Stacked Discounts

20% + 10% ≠ 30%! The true effective discount is 1 − (0.8 × 0.9) = 28%. Use the Stacked tab to verify.

Festival Sales

During Big Billion Days or Amazon Sale, 40–80% discounts are common. Always verify the MRP is genuine before buying.

Compare Wisely

Higher % off on an inflated MRP can be worse than lower % on actual market price. Compare final prices, not discounts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate a discounted price?+
Final Price = Original Price × (1 − Discount% ÷ 100). Example: 25% off ₹2000 = 2000 × 0.75 = ₹1500. You save ₹500. Use the "% Off → Price" tab for instant results.
How do I find the original price from a sale price?+
Original Price = Sale Price ÷ (1 − Discount% ÷ 100). If you see ₹1500 after 25% off: 1500 ÷ 0.75 = ₹2000 original price. Use the "Find % Off" tab to reverse-calculate.
Why do two discounts not simply add up?+
Each discount is applied to the already-reduced price. 20% off ₹1000 = ₹800. Then 10% off ₹800 = ₹720. Total = 28% off, not 30%. Stacking always gives a slightly lower effective discount than you'd expect.
What is a flat discount vs percentage discount?+
A flat discount (₹200 off) saves the same amount regardless of price. A percentage discount (20% off) scales with price — better for expensive items. On a ₹500 item, 20% off = ₹100 saved; on ₹2000, it saves ₹400.
